BeneFit has become an icon in the cosmetics industry. It was founded by Jean and Jane Ford, twin sisters and former models. ‘The Face Place’ (as the inception of BeneFit was known) opened in San Francisco in 1976. The products soon garnered a loyal support base.

In 1990, the Fords changed the company name to BeneFit. “We were about to launch our products in our first big department store, and we needed a name that didn’t sound like a destination,” explains Jane. She was inspired by a trip to Italy. “All I heard was ‘Bene! Bene!’ All the time. I told my sister that I wished we could think of a name like that, and BeneFit was born.”

The sisters inject their personality and humour into their products and their branding. BeneFit’s unique package design and marketing approach have set an example for other small companies with unique images. It is one of the most copied make-up brands of the moment. BeneFit stands out from the crowd with one-of-a-kind cosmetics and skincare products, and a feel-good philosophy. Their packaging has a classic retro feel, inspired by America’s Midwest. The twins claim to do two things to perfection: make-up and making casseroles. Fortunately their business venture focused on the former and now we can enjoy their fantastic products.

Benetint
