Oh, the lovely sparkling, honey colour that signifies total well being. Yes, we all love the Veuve Clicquot yellow - with every cork popped, uncurbed yellow joy and elegance is released into the atmosphere. And it’s all because of a woman’s touch that we are lucky enough to share in this tingling pleasure.

Barbe Nicole Ponsardin married François Clicquot but when she was only a mere 27 years old, her husband died prematurely of a fever. Madame Clicquot decided to take up the reins of the estate. Through her character and business strength she turned the estate into a great Champagne House.

Her motto, “only one quality, the finest” and soon had her champagne  shipped all over the world. Lucky us! As wines used to be cloudy in those early days, she invented the riddling table or ‘remuage’ to obtain champagne wines that were, “crystal clear, distinct and limpid.”
