Lash Out

A set of lush lashes is the ultimate in being flirtatiously demure. Reminiscent of the timeless look of Audrey Hepburn’s alluring eyes, gorgeous lashes convey glamour and drama.

Today, advancements in false lashes have come a long way. Correctly applied, false lashes can enhance your day-to-day appearance, or create a bold and exciting new look.

Individual lashes are great when going for a natural look – these give the eye fabulous definition. The lashes are applied in between the person’s real lashes to add fullness and length. They can be applied on the outer corners to lengthen the eye. The eyelash extensions are semi-permanent and can last up to 6 weeks. Touch ups are needed to keep the lashes looking thick and luscious. You would need to go for fillers every 2 to 3 weeks to replace lashes that have fallen out naturally.

The lashes used in the shoot are strip lashes, which are glued on with lash glue. These are great because they allow you to change the look of your eyes by using the different types of lashes available. The options range from fine to super thick, from feathered to bejewelled! Brands such as MAC have redeveloped their lashes and now make them out of real hair. This has a softer and natural effect on the eye.

Take care when working with the lashes: keep them and the glue clean to avoid bacteria which can cause infection. The glues have been special formulated for usage around the eye. Use black or brown pencil along the strip as to camouflage the line before you apply it to the eye. When removing the lashes, use an oiled base eye cleaner as the oil weakens the glue. Clean the lashes in warm water and replace then in the moulded container to keep their shape. If lashes are looked after they can be used quite a few times.
