Noni Gasa

I wish I was... a superhero with the power of omniscience, psychokinesis, X-Ray vision, teletransportation, astral projection (and not forgetting magnetism… to draw riches to me!). Don’t you?

The last time my breath was taken away was... when I attempted a 90-minute Bikram Yoga class after a two year absence.

The love of my life is… my life itself.

The living person I most admire is… Michelle and President Barack Hussein Obama, mama Carol Dyantyi and Ghanaian author Ayi Kwei Armah, among many.

I hate people who...have delusions of grandeur.

I want to be remembered for... evolving.

One day I want... a trout farm in Dullstroom, a beach condo in Knysna and a vegetarian dinner with Andre 3000.

My mom taught me... independence, goal-setting, the power of prayer, good

hygiene, humility, endurance, empathy that sometimes knows no end, and the importance of wearing good underwear at all times.

I take fashion advice from... my instincts, magazines and designer friends.

Beauty is... being woken up at sunrise by mischievous monkeys, a curios cheetah and grazing impala at Thanda Private Game Lodge in Hluhluwe.

The thing I value most in life is… my sanity and my time.

My blood pressure rises from... seeing children beg, witnessing greed in action, receiving poor service, and pretending that I don’t have a fundamental problem with black women wearing Eurocentric hair extensions. Yuck!

Money can... buy you an Aston Martin, a small holding in Constantia, exotic pets, a French-speaking chef from Benin, new boobs, Goyard trunks and an indoor bowling alley… but nobody to appreciate it all with.

I dream of… being punctual for appointments.

My favourite movies of all time are... I am Sam, Saving Private Ryan, Dancer in the Dark and Rabbit-Proof Fence.

My favourite music is... by Asa, Marsha Ambrosia, Lauryn Hill, Janelle Monae, N.E.R.D, Jill Scott, John Legend, Sade, The Red Hot Chilli Peppers and the Afro Cuban All Stars.

I wish I could change... my hair colour every week, my cellphone number every year and my name every Sunday when the tabloids come out.

I want to travel... from Cape to Cairo in a 4X4. Ok, maybe by helicopter.

Life is… a series of opportunities to right your wrongs.

My motto is… “Get wisdom, and in all your getting, get understanding” (Proverbs 4
verse 5-9)
